A new club for seventh graders during their lunch time is being introduced to help spread positivity around the school.
Seventh grade science teacher Wendy McQuilkin said she wanted to start the club to help students feel happy and included.
“I want people to befriend each other,” McQuilkin said. “To stop the bullying; to be kind and love each other.
McQuilkin hopes the lessons of the club will go farther than just Cactus Canyon and the community.
“There is so much hate in this world and I thought the kids at CCJH can spread love and happiness to help create a better place at school, home and out in the world,” she said
To start off their first meeting on March 21 members watched a Ted Talk and began to think of ideas of what to do to bring happiness to others.
“I decided to start the Kindness Club because I want everyone to feel happy and included,” McQuilkin said.
McQuilkin hopes to expand the club to eighth graders also, to help bring more positivity to the school in the future.
“I’d enjoy if an eighth grade teacher and I could collaborate next year and do the same things so seventh graders can participate during their lunch and eighth graders can during their lunch,” McQuilkin said.
